|

I dated a really nice guy for 6 mounths and suddenly he dumped me 3 days after Valentine's day. I don't understand why. Is it because I had no relationship experience? He was the first guy I ever dated. It has been almost 2 years since and I am unable to love or relate to guys. I have no idea what I did that was so wrong. I don't know if I should just give up dating entirely and consider myself a spinster. I am sure that the relationship is my fault and I am paying the price while he gets to walk away. Any advice? Thanks |

| The first time always hurts the most. Wish I could say that you will get completely over it one day and forget about him entirely but you won't. You have to put it in perspective though, it was your first relationship and it was the first time you have been dumped. For the few people who have never known the heartbreak of being let go of (I am certainly not on of them) count your blessings. As far as not being able to connect with any guys since that is a bit disconcerning. My guess is that you have not put yourself out there for fear of being hurt. Either that or you have been living under a rock for the past 2 years. There are great guys out there but it is pretty rare that one just lands on your doorstep. We can tell when you are not receptive to a relationship and most of us are not going to try and force one on you. I happen to be one of those guys who always goes after the girl who is not quite ready for a relationship. I guess about the male equivalent of those girls who always date, fixer uppers, thinking they will be able to change them. Anyways my point is that you should really start putting yourself out there. That doesn't mean you have to run out and go out on a blind date tonight but try approaching a guy that you know and find interesting or funny. Isolate him and carry on a conversation. What is the worst that could happen. You might make a fool out of yourself but at least you will get some experience approaching guys. It is about time to get back out there and start looking for Mr. Right. If you are really putting out your best effort and still unable to relate to any males then there may be a more serious underlying problem. |

lau219...little sister...
NVR is right, you are in the dawn of your life and have a whole lifetime of experience ahead of you.
There is nothing wrong with you. People who have the deepest capacity for love are the one who worry about it coming and going. People who don't experience that depth of feeling don't ask the kind of questions that you are asking.
Don't worry, as sure as the day follows the night, you will find love again, little sister. |
